For the most part, most of us habitually pay attention to the events of the physical world 24 hours a day. Our jobs, families, chores, computers, cell phones, social media, schedules and so much more, take the vast majority of our time. At night we even dream of these things. One of the key aims of meditation is to shift the way we perceive ourselves in the world, realigned the chakras, reconnect with our soul, silence the mind and create awareness of the subconscious. It is a way of life that replaces anger with love, frustration with peace, jealousy and attachment service and so much more. This shift happens is our daily life centers more on our relationship with ourselves, and the loving all conscious God/universe. In order to succeed in this shift we must spend a significant part of each day paying attention to the source of life and energy within us through meditation. This will offset the outward flow of our attention throughout the rest of the day, giving us access to peace, love, strength, joy, and wisdom. All day long our subconscious mind takes in impressions; during meditation these impressions block the inner vision and keep the mind distracted.
Meditation is single pointed attention. It is simply keeping your attention focused on one object. During your first meditation experience, you may be able to witness a reality beyond the reach of your senses and imagination. Everyone has a personal starting point, and in order to advance, regular practice and patience is required. In order to obtain the great benefits of meditation it is necessary that you develop the skill to concentrate your attention and directed toward your interior. This skill is developed by daily practice of meditation exercises.

When beginning the practice of meditation, necessary lifestyle changes in the use of a spiritual diary may be beneficial. Additionally, our physical senses are outgoing. Our site, hearing, taste, touch, and smell senses respond to the stimuli in the physical world. Our attention is drawn to the physical world through these “doorways” and kept engaged in that world. Therefore, some focal points in meditation assistance can be found in some of these items:
Our origin is in the spiritual realm. With physical life we also inherit the emotional and mental dimensions of our nature, but these are not our true nature. Meditation on mental things prevents our attention from rising higher. The focus of mental meditation might be:
A higher form of meditation on the inner light and sound, we learn to connect with the source of creation. Love, peace, joy, knowledge and beauty are the fruits of this connection. Our focus on the inner light and sound leads first to the knowledge of our true essence and ultimately to the permanent union with our life’s spark, that great ocean of life that created and sustains everything. Ultimately we can achieve freedom from karma’s and from the cycle of births and deaths, knowledge of the soul, access to spiritual planes, oneness with God, perfection and holiness.
The qualities of what we meditate on leave their impressions upon us and have their influence. Over time, we acquire those qualities ourselves. The most profound meditation occurs when you withdraw your attention from your body below the eyes and concentrated on the third eye center, which is located at the point between the eyebrows and slightly above. The intellect becomes quiet, the inner vision opens, and the soul is freed from its coverings, experiencing its own divine nature.
While all meditation may bring benefits, the meditation on the inner life and sound will improve those who practice it and all of the following areas:
